Elijah Just arrived in Scotland, having, as he described, bounced about the Austrian and Danish second divisions. A star for his country New Zealand, Just was yet to find his best form at club level. He announced himself to Scottish football after producing one performance at Tynecastle that had both sets of supporters impressed. From there, his season went from strength to strength. Goals, assists and outstanding technical ability – his unique mental ability to bamboozle defences meant he was one of the most feared players in the Motherwell squad for opponents. Picking the Motherwell FC Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year award, he was nominated for the PFA Player of the Year award, as well as the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year award. In 12 months in Scottish football, Elijah Just is recognised as one of the best players currently in the country, and as he prepares to represent New Zealand in the World Cup this summer, he's arriving after one of the best seasons a Motherwell player has had.
