We take a look back in time as we go back to 2013 when Motherwell came from behind to defeat already crowned league winners Celtic 3-1 at Fir Park. The result would secure the Steelmen's qualification to the Europa League.

Motherwell were searching for their fourth win on the bounce coming into their William Hill Premiership fixture against Dundee. Following the victory at Hibernian, the October international break interrupted the rhythm as Motherwell failed to find their usual stride.  Stuart Kettlewell was left disappointed by his team's performance as Dundee's Lyall Cameron fired his team ahead in the first-half. Substitutes were brought on to try and change the Steelmen's fortunes however, the equaliser didn't arrive and Dundee held out for the win.

Ewan Wilson has burst onto the scene in 2024/25. The Motherwell Academy graduate has picked the perfect opportunity to step up to the plate for the first-team at the club.  Loan spells at Albion Rovers, Stirling Albion and Beith Juniors only tell half of the story, but the 19-year-old left-back has become an integral part of the Motherwell team. Using his strong and physical presence to see off opponents, he also has a burst of pace and flair to go past defenders. Often left as the last man, he uses his defensive prowess with timely tackles and interceptions thriving in 1v1 situations against the leagues best wide men.  With a venomous shot and a composed final ball, Wilson continues to impress in both areas of the pitch as his first-team experience rises every week, with him yet to miss a minute of league action so far.

"Delighted" by his recent start to life in Motherwell's first team and being given the opportunity to continue his journey with the Steelmen, Aston Oxborough stated that there was "no doubt" to continue with Motherwell after reflecting on his time and starting off "fairly well" when beginning as the number two keeper under Liam Kelly who went on to play for Rangers, allowing Oxborough to show that he is more than capable of that number one spot. When asked about the teams current performance before they take on Dundee Saturday 19th, the 26-year-old said that the players have been "pretty good" and that he hopes they learn from their previous trend of action only managing a short success rate at the start of the Premiership and will manage to stay consistent in their efforts, Aston is an "asset" to the team as suggested by manager Stuart Kettlewell. Oxborough has a clear focus right now on trying to secure a victory against Dundee and what's to come after for Motherwell, especially after such a favourable outcome so far early on in the season which is hoped to be continued.

Prior to the Motherwell v Dundee match Saturday 19th, Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell expresses the teams previous game successes as a "class week" following the teams win against Hibernian 2-1. When asked about the opposition, Kettlewell stated Dundee are a "very good side" and with Captain Paul McGinn suffering a muscle injury which puts him out for a good period of time, the team will have to continue to keep consistent in order to cope with what Kettlewell describes as fierce competition. "My biggest passion is seeing the players improve" insisted the manager, with confidence that the team are driven by the results on the pitch. This is evident with Motherwell's Englishman Aston Oxborough asserting himself in the football industry with his consistent success securing the spot of the clubs number one keeper which followed with him being voted player of the month in September by fans, and then scoring with a new contract guaranteeing his place up till the Summer of 2027.

Aston Oxborough has had about as good a month as a footballer can expect. Signing a new deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027, the Motherwell number one impressed throughout the month of September so much so, the fans voted him player of the month.

It was only in May of this year that Ewan Wilson was playing Junior football with Beith, after a failed loan spell at Stirling Albion. With his contract coming to an end, he knew he had to impress to have a chance of continuing his career at Motherwell. Fast forward to October and the 19-year-old is the first-team left-back for the Steelmen, having not missed a minute of league action. He's now a Scotland Under 21 internationalist and is preparing to play at Hampden in a League Cup semi-final against Rangers. The rise has been nothing short of exceptional, but it isn't just down to luck. Having came across personal issues with diet and weight, Wilson has been working hard behind the scenes to rectify his problems and come out the other side all the better for it.

Caldwell also touches on the community spirit that he saw first hand in the build up the quarter-final match against Dundee United, as well as talking about the decision to move a December fixture against Kilmarnock to the Friday night.  He also addresses the reasoning behind the ticket pricing for the semi-final match against Rangers before finishing on the relationship he has built with the Well Society.

Motherwell travelled down the M8 to Edinburgh, looking to make it six wins out of seven going into the October international break.  Taking on Hibernian at Easter Road, the Steelmen knew it wouldn't be an easy task and they felt the full force of an attacking Hibs side in the first-half, with Aston Oxborough and Lennon Miller both called into action to prevent the hosts taking the lead.  A half-time alteration seemed to do the trick however, as Apostolos Stamatelopoulos netted his first Motherwell goal from a clever Miller free kick.  The lead didn't last long as Junior Hoilett levelled the game minutes later. Moses Ebiye thought he had poked his team back in front, but the linesman had other ideas as he raised his flag for offside.  A red card for Hibernian's Nectarios Triantis swung the momentum with ten minutes to go, and shortly after, Andy Halliday cushioned home the winner from a Kofi Balmer throw-in.  The win takes Stuart Kettlewell's side fourth in table, and with a semi-final still to look forward to, things are looking good in ML1.
