A bad day at the office // Stenhousemuir 1-0 Motherwell

Going from the highs of qualifying for the playoff round in the UEFA Conference League, to the elimination of the Premier Sports Cup against Stenhousemuir was something manager Alfred Johansson said we should be annoyed at.  The early signs have all been positive and this result is one that should hurt, but one we must move on quickly with our tie against SC Freiburg ahead of us on Thursday.

Our strongest performance on the biggest stage // Motherwell 2-0 HJK Helsinki

The Steelmen knew getting the tie back to Fir Park for the second leg on level terms was a boost, but also knew they still had a huge job to do to secure qualification for the playoff round of the UEFA Conference League. 8,150 Motherwell fans gathered at Fir Park for what was billed to be a huge opportunity to play last season's Europa League finalists SC Freiburg in the next round. Motherwell were well on top for the duration of the 90 minutes, with Ibrahim Said lifting the roof off Fir Park, as everyone has the chance to now make more memories in the next round of the competition.

Showing we're still in transition // Motherwell 0-0 Falkirk

Motherwell's focus turned back towards Premiership action on Sunday afternoon, as the players tried to register a win against last season's 'bogey side' Falkirk at Fir Park.  A hectic and congested fixture schedule wasn't used as an excuse by Alfred Johansson at full time following the stalemate with Falkirk; instead, the manager sees the afternoon's performance as one that is a marker for how this group of players are still building up a connection with each other.

All to play for // HJK Helsinki 1-1 Motherwell

It was more UEFA Conference League action for Motherwell, who travelled to HJK Helsinki with a depleted squad due to injuries. But despite the low numbers, the MFC squad went into the first leg with 600 sold-out away-end fans behind them. The first half saw HJK have the majority of the chances, but having grown into the game, Motherwell came out all guns blazing in the second-half, striking the woodwork twice. Eventually, a penalty would be awarded, which Tawanda Maswanhise dispatched, sending the away end into rapture. Teemu Pukki equalised for the hosts, who now have to travel to Scotland in the second leg in what could be a very special night at Fir Park.
