The build up had been long and exciting going into the Premier Sports Cup semi-final match against St Mirren at Hampden for Motherwell fans, with over 9000 supporters making their way to Glasgow in the hope of seeing their side reach a final for the first time since 2018.  But on the pitch, things didn't go according to plan as St Mirren raced away into a two-goal lead, leaving a mountain to climb for Motherwell. In the second-half, the Steelmen held onto the ball for large periods in the St Mirren half but were limited to few openings. Callum Hendry did find the back of the net with seven minutes to go, offering a crumb of encouragement to the fans that a comeback could be on. But that feeling was short-lived, as St Mirren added a third and a fourth before the full-time whistle as Motherwell went all out for an equaliser. A thoroughly disappointing day on the big stage, but the Steelmen have an opportunity to go out on a high ahead of the next international break when they face Aberdeen for the third time this season next weekend.

Arianna Corrieri is ten years old. She is in primary school. However, she is a young woman who is living far beyond her years.  Her mum, Louise, was diagnosed with a rare condition called Addison's Disease. Following this diagnosis, it was also confirmed she had gastroparesis. In her own words, steroids keep Louise alive. And with her partner working the night shift, ten-year-old Arianna has had to step up to look after her mum. Arriana ensures her mum takes her medication, gets her younger brothers ready for school whilst feeding them, walks the dogs and keeps everything in order in the house. On top of all this, she is ready for a worst-case scenario. Prepared to administer emergency aid and having phoned ambulances when necessary previously, she is a true inspiration in our community. Winning the BBC Young Hero Award, an accolade given to someone under 16 who has made a positive impact in their community or achieved something exceptional, there was only one person we wanted to lead our team out onto the Hampden Park turf on Saturday against Saturday. Upon learning Arianna's story, Motherwell manager Jens Berthel Askou wanted to surprise Arianna ahead of the match and articulate his appreciation for everything Arianna does.

Despite a late winner against Livingston four days ago, manager Jens Berthel Askou wanted his side to have far greater control in the match and asked his players to up their levels against Dundee United.  Heading into a semi-final match this weekend, the Steelmen were looking to take as much momentum as possible into the match against St Mirren. And right from the start, Motherwell dominated possession and limited Dundee United to very little. They were rewarded for their dominance before the half time interval thanks to Tawanda Maswanhise's ninth goal of the campaign. Barring a ten minute period, Motherwell continued to be on top in the second-half and Elliot Watt made sure of the points with just over ten minutes left to play, scoring his first goal for the club and setting up a blockbuster Saturday at Hampden Park.

Captain Paul McGinn is delighted the team have picked up back-to-back wins coming into the semi-final against St Mirren, but believes when the games come round, none of that matters and that the team need to remain focused on the task at hand.  McGinn was also full of praise for St Mirren and the problems they will cause the defensive line on Saturday.

After tasting the disappointment of defeat seven days ago, Motherwell were looking to get things back on track in West Lothian against Livingston.  Kicking off a hectic and pivotal seven days at the club, the Steelmen started on the front foot, pinning their opponents back into their own half. Despite the positive start, they would go behind following a Livingston penalty. As the hosts pushed for more success, Calum Ward and his defence were called into action to keep the gap at just one goal. Looking for a big second-half performance and a comeback, Motherwell created chances. The game was levelled through Apostolos Stamatelopoulos before the Aussie striker knocked home a second. His luck wasn't in on this occasion, however, as the goal was ruled out for offside. The nerves grew, and as the game neared its conclusion, Elijah Just popped from a rebound to head home in the 90th minute to seemingly seal the points for his team. VAR, however, analysed the goal and chalked the goal off for another offside. With the big opportunity to win the game let on to be looking like it had passed, there was still time for more drama. Just got over the disappointment of seeing his goal ruled out just in time to blast past the keeper in the third minute of stoppage time to seal the win for his team. A big seven days started in the right fashion for Motherwell, as they prepare to face Dundee United on Wednesday night before travelling to Hampden for a semi-final clash against St Mirren.
