Motherwell travelled to Rugby Park, a venue they hadn't won at since February 2021. Historically a difficult place for the Steelmen to get a result, they knew the task would be a difficult one to overcome Stuart Kettlewell's Kilmarnock side. Controlling the flow of the game from the off, Tawanda Maswanhise reached double figures for the season in the 16th minute before adding a second from yet another quick corner routine before the half time interval. Kilmarnock weren't done yet and pulled one back early in the second-half, as they looked to mount a comeback. But all hopes were extinguished when Apostolos Stamatelopoulos netted from the penalty spot to put the game beyond Killie, making it ten points from a possible 12 in the league for Motherwell.
